Our Process

Appointment with Medical Provider

During the appointment, your AvitaCare Atlanta medical provider will review your medical history, lab results, and medications. Feel free to use this time to ask your medical provider any questions or concerns you may have about your HIV treatment and care.

To put you on the best personalized HIV treatment plan for you, our AvitaCare Atlanta care provider may ask for extra lab tests. If you have taken labs within the last 6 months, more testing may not be necessary.

AvitaCare Atlanta offers convenient and personalized prescription services with our on-site pharmacy. If you already have a pharmacy, we can help you transfer your prescriptions easily. Think of it as your one-stop shop for HIV treatment and care. Your prescribed medication(s) will be quickly delivered to you in discreet, temperature-sensitive packaging.

Continued Care

Your dedicated AvitaCare Atlanta medical provider will manage every part of your HIV care, including prescribing medication(s) and scheduling lab tests, as needed. AvitaCare Atlanta also offers counseling support to help you thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Qualifies for HIV Treatment and Care?

To make sure you qualify for treatment, a provider will talk to you about your health history, co-existing conditions, when you were first diagnosed with HIV, and any ongoing treatment you may have.

If you are a new patient and have not had any labs done in the last six months, we will coordinate new lab tests to confirm your current viral load and CD-4 (T cell) count.

The RapidCare HIV Treatment & Care Program is available to all patients regardless of whether they have insurance or not. If you do not have insurance, we will help find financial assistance programs that help cover out-of-pocket costs.

Our highly experienced medical team is made up of clinicians certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Their extensive experience supporting and treating the HIV community, and their mission to get more people the HIV treatment they need are proof that you will receive the best HIV treatment, education, and care.

If you are a newly diagnosed HIV patient, AvitaCare Atlanta will start you on Rapid ART (Antiretroviral Therapy.) If you are already on Rapid ART treatment, your care provider will review your health history and recent lab results to decide the next steps.

Once we have coordinated your HIV care, your provider will proactively check in with you every three to six months. During these check-ins, they review your current health status, go over lab results, and ask about potential side effects you may be feeling. They will also answer any questions you may have about preventing transmission and becoming undetectable. If you need counseling for your emotional well-being or support with disclosing your status to partners and family members, your provider can offer help.

Regular lab tests and medical check-ins make HIV treatment and care effective. If they are needed, our medical providers will order tests at our onsite lab for your convenience. In addition to checking your CD-4 (T Cell) count and viral load, your provider may also order tests for sexually transmitted infections, kidney function, liver function, and other health measures. Rest assured that these lab tests will be covered by your insurance plan.
