PLANO, TEXAS (July 29, 2025) — AvitaCare Atlanta, an Avita Care Solutions company, has received a Gold Award from the 32nd annual National Health Information Awards (NHIA), which recognizes the nation’s best consumer health and education materials. The medical center and pharmacy, known for offering compassionate, comprehensive, and inclusive primary and specialized care services to the greater Atlanta community, earned top honors in the Public Service Ad category for its “Stomp the Noise: Be Fearless. Get Tested.” HIV testing event, developed in collaboration with covered entity partner MedCura Health.
More than 1.2 million Americans live with HIV, and Atlanta has the third highest rate of new diagnoses in the country. Black men account for 41% of new HIV diagnoses, while Black women represent nearly 60% of new diagnoses nationwide. Barriers such as economic hardship, limited access to healthcare, and HIV-related stigma significantly contribute to these disparities. To mark National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and ensure that all Atlantans have access to compassionate and comprehensive care, AvitaCare Atlanta and MedCura Health hosted a free HIV and STI testing event in February 2025. The event was promoted through print and digital ads, a radio campaign, and the award-winning 60-second public service announcement featuring AvitaCare Atlanta patients and community members.
The NHIA, now in its 32nd year, is coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. Judges included health information experts from across the country. Other Gold Award winners included the American Academy of Pediatrics, AARP, and Mayo Clinic. “These awards set an industry standard of quality for consumer health materials, and this ‘seal of quality’ helps health professionals find the best consumer health information resources for their programs,” Health Information Resource Center Executive Director Patricia Henze says.
“At Avita, we’re committed to working side-by-side with other community health experts to engage and educate underserved patient populations about how to unlock the full potential of health, and knowing your HIV status plays a key role,” says Avita Care Solutions CEO Michael Yount. “Thank you to the NHIA for this honor, and congratulations to the AvitaCare Atlanta and MedCura Health teams.”
